The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been hit by another internal scandal following reports that an officer in charge of its Kaduna Zonal Office exhibit room has absconded with over $30,000 in cash and other valuable items.
Truth Live News gathered from Daily Nigeria that the officer, identified as Polycarp, allegedly disappeared after failing to account for the missing funds. Sources revealed that the incident was uncovered during a routine audit of exhibits under his custody.
Polycarp, who was reportedly entrusted with managing the commission’s confiscated assets, vanished without a trace, sparking outrage and further scrutiny of the EFCC’s internal operations.
This development comes on the heels of a similar scandal earlier in the year, where 10 EFCC officers in Lagos were detained for allegedly misappropriating operational items, including gold bars worth over ₦1 billion, $180,000 in cash, and approximately £140,000.
