As the September 21, 2024, governorship election in Edo State approaches, political campaigns are intensifying.

In the Edo Central Senatorial District, preparations are accelerating under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Chief Joe Edionwele, Chairman of the Operations Directorate and Board of Trustees Chair for The Ighodalo Movement for Edo People (TIME).

On June 28, in his Ekpoma residence, Chief Edionwele urged Edo citizens to support the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Barr. Dr. Asuerinme Akintunde Ighodalo. He declared, “With Barr. Asue Ighodalo, a new dawn of hope for Edo State is assured,” ahead of unveiling Ighodalo’s campaign team on June 29 (today).

Chief Edionwele highlighted the core principles of Ighodalo’s manifesto, “Pathway to Prosperity For All,” which prioritizes the welfare, empowerment, and progress of Edo State’s people. He emphasized the candidate’s focus on security, education, healthcare, economic development, and social welfare, describing it as a comprehensive vision aimed at unlocking the state’s potential.

“Barr. Asue Ighodalo’s commitment to good governance, transparency, and accountability ensures that the state’s resources will benefit all citizens,” Edionwele stated. He further noted that Ighodalo’s agenda places significant emphasis on youth development, women’s empowerment, and care for the elderly, demonstrating a dedication to supporting the state’s most vulnerable populations.

Chief Edionwele called for widespread support, urging citizens to collaborate and work together to elect Ighodalo. “Let us join hands and vote for a man who will build a brighter future for Edo State, where everyone has the chance to thrive and reach their full potential. Together, we can create a legacy of progress, peace, and prosperity for generations to come,” he concluded.

In a bid to kickstart the campaign in the Edo Central Senatorial District, Edionwele, who has donated a campaign office and an 18-seater Toyota Hiace bus, will be inaugurating a working team under the Directorate on June 29. This move is part of broader efforts to mobilize support and ensure a robust campaign in the lead-up to the election.
