Edo 2024: Edo State First Lady and Oshiomhole’s Unfortunate Mockery – By Osagie Imasogie

Edo State citizens were on Sunday greeted with a video that has since gone viral, where Senator Adams Oshiomole mocked Edo State First Lady, Mrs Betsy Obaseki, for not having biological children.

I am more miffed than anyone that has seen the video. There are other things Oshiomhole could have said as it is now the period of silly politics, but calling Betsy a barren woman is a derogatory insult taken too far. Indeed, Oshiomhole has insulted the entire people of Edo State.

There is no excuse for what he said as a sitting senator and a former governor. There cannot be any level of provocation for such an unwarranted words. I am extremely ashamed of his words that has brought tears to the eyes of several women that are barren in Edo State.

Although we know mentally, Senator Monday Okpebholo is not better than Oshiomhole, the All Peoples Congress candidate must start to distance himself from Oshiomhole. He must excuse him from his campaign team otherwise, Monday will be seen as sanctioning the arrogance, senselesness, and insensitivity of the former governor.

To think Oshiomhole is a senator is hard to believe. He words are not just only immature, infatile, irresponsible he is also inconsiderate. His politics seems to be without human face.

Oshiomole has since lost it as a reliable elder statesman. No wonder one of his prodigies, Philip Shaibu said Oshiomhole has mental issues that need to be assessed. He was the first known sitting governor to have told a widow to go and die!

This is exactly how he effectively de-marketed Pastor Ize-Iyamu in 2016 and came back to try to market him in 2020 that ended in failure.

Oshiomhole must apologize to the people of Edo State immediately and excuse himself from this campaigns.
