The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially concluded its campaign activities for the September 21, 2024, governorship election. In adherence to the country’s Electoral Laws, the PDP announced the cessation of all campaign-related activities on the night of September 19.
In a statement issued on Thursday morning in Benin City by Reverend Olu Martins, the Deputy Director General for Media and Publicity of the Asue/Ogie Campaign Management Council, the party emphasized the significance of this directive. The statement read: “We wish to inform the public that PDP has officially closed all campaign activities for the upcoming election. We direct that no promotional activity, including publications, advertisements, or jingles, should occur beyond 23:59 PM tonight.”
The PDP cautioned that any further promotional efforts regarding the election after the deadline would not carry the party’s endorsement. “Any campaigns conducted after the designated time will not have the authorization or support of the PDP or its various committees. The party will not be held responsible for any activities that continue after the official closure of the campaign,” the statement warned.
In conclusion, the party expressed its deep appreciation to its members, supporters, and well-wishers for their unwavering dedication throughout the campaign. The statement particularly acknowledged the efforts of those who championed the message of their candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, encapsulated in the slogan, ‘The Pathway to Prosperity for All’. The party extended gratitude for the significant participation and support that drove the campaign’s success.
