Leaders and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State have lauded the combination of the party’s governorship candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo and his running mate, Osarodion Ogie, saying it is a stone throw to victory.
They also said their pair is a “perfect match that is guaranteed of victory on election day.”
They stated this when they met over the weekend in Igarra, headquarters of the local government where they unanimously pledged to work and ensure victory for the party in the September 21 governorship election.
Addressing the party faithful, convener of the meeting and a chieftain of the party, Abiodun Johnson, popularly called Abifa lauded the unity of purpose of the members of the party in the local government area.
The meeting attracted members of the PDP from the ten wards in the local government area.
He also lauded the support of the running mate to the governorship candidate of the party, Ogie.
Abiodun, who also expressed confidence, said the PDP in the state would resolve all its crisis in a short time and approach the election as one.
“This is the time the party needs to work together as a family to win the next election and ensure that the PDP remains in the state, and I believe this will be achieved.
“We have a very good team. Our candidate is pairing with a good man who has been of immense help to people in the three Senatorial Districts including me.
“That is a team that will take Edo State to a level of reference by others in terms of development. So, all hands must be on deck to make sure this is done”, Abiodun said.
The Chairman of the Council, Hon.Tajudeen Alade, expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the convener and used the meeting to enumerate all projects so far completed and the ones ongoing in his administration.
He said the numerous projects completed and ongoing were materials for campaigns once the embargo on campaign is lifted.
On her part, Mrs P.O Balogun expressed gratitude to Governor Godwin Obaseki for considering Akoko-Edo worthy for the office of Deputy Governor of the State, which according to her, has put an end to the age long cry of marginalization.
Among the PDP leaders who attended the event were the Executive Chairman of Akoko-Edo Local Government Council, Hon. Tajudeen Alade (Esq); Hon. Mrs P.O Balogun, Special Adviser to the Governor of Edo State; Hon Solomon Taiwo, Senior Special Assistant ( SSA) to the Governor; Mrs Bose Ashipa, Hon Fatai Maliki, Ward Chairmen among others.
