The Edo State Chairman of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Baba Saliu has described the victory of the immediate past national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole in Edo North Senatorial District race as the dawn of a new beginning for Afemai people.
In the February 25 polls, the former Edo State governor polled 107,110 votes to defeat his closest rival, incumbent Senator Francis Alimikhena of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who recorded 55,344 votes.
In a congratulatory message, Saliu, said that, with his wealth of experience as former president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), governor and party national chairman, he has no doubt that the ex-labour leader will make a huge impact in the affairs of the country.
Against the backdrop of the perennial scarcity of petroleum products and subsequent high price, the Edo IPMAN chairman advised the Senator elect to find ways and means of tackling the problem.
He maintained that the landslide victory of the former Edo State governor has once again, clearly demonstrated that the people of Afemai are a grateful people, who remembered the sterling performance of Comrade Oshiomhole during his stint as governor between 2008 and 2016.
“I have no doubt that Comrade Oshiomhole is the right man for the job.
“Going by his antecedent, he has what it takes to contribute meaningfully to national development.
“I am equally very optimistic that the people of Edo North will benefit immensely from his connections and wealth of experience.
“Comrade Oshiomhole left an indelible mark behind during his stint as governor of Edo State.
“Edo North made the right choice on February 25.
“For Afemai and Edo people generally, it’s the dawn of a new era.
” IPMAN will support the government in finding a lasting solution to the perennial problem of fuel scarcity in Edo and Nigeria, comrade Oshiomhole has our full support.” Saliu said
He advised Comrade Oshiomhole to be magnanimous in victory by extending the olive branch to his opponent, Senator Alimikhena, adding that all hands must be on deck in the collective quest for the dividends of democracy to be given to the good people of Edo North and Edo people generally.
