Hon. Chief Sunny Fada Eigbiremonlen, the lawmaker representing Esan Central State constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly, has taken a significant step to empower women in his constituency by providing financial support.
A total of 500 women received a sum of N25 million to enhance their small and medium scale businesses.
Speaking at the distribution event held at the Esan Central Local Government Council field in Irrua, Hon. Fada emphasized that empowering these women aligns with his campaign promises to uplift the youth and women and alleviate poverty.
He aims to improve the socio-economic status of women and youth in his constituency by providing them with opportunities to thrive in business.
One of the beneficiaries, speaking on behalf of others, expressed gratitude towards Hon. Fada for his generous support and commitment to the welfare of his constituents.
Former Senator Clifford Ordia also commended Hon. Fada for his initiative and urged the beneficiaries to utilize the funds effectively.
He encouraged continued support for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its governorship candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, praising Dr. Ighodalo’s virtues, character, and competency.
Also Speaking, the Director General of the Edo State Governorship Campaign Council, Hon. Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, praised Hon. Fada for his continuous assistance to his constituency. He highlighted the importance of such empowerment programs in reducing unemployment and promoting self-reliance.
“We must commend Hon. Fada for the cash empowerment for the women in his constituency. His zeal, including his checks and balances to ensure that the grants got directly to the actual beneficiaries is also commendable”, he said.
He said Nigeria and Edo State have benefited more under PDP than APC, and charged the people to continue to support the Peoples Democratic Party and vote its governorship candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo come September 21, governorship elections.
He therefore, called on other lawmakers to emulate the Edo state lawmaker, Hon. Sunny Fada Eigbiremonlen.
Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the People’s Democratic Party gubernatorial candidate, commended Hon. Fada for his women empowerment initiative and congratulated the beneficiaries. He pledged to prioritize women’s development if elected governor, emphasizing their resourcefulness and resilience.
The event also witnessed the welcoming of over 100 defectors from the APC and Labour Parties by the State chairman of the PDP, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi.
