Prospective corps members preparing for the 2026 National Youth Service exercise will be able to begin their online registration from March 12, following a new announcement by the National Youth Service Corps, Truth Live News International reports.
The agency disclosed that its registration portal will remain open for the exercise until March 18, 2026, allowing eligible graduates to complete their mobilisation process within the one-week window.
The information was made public through a flyer shared across the NYSC’s official social media platforms on Friday.
In the notice directed at prospective corps members, the scheme explained that registration would only be open to graduates whose names appear on the approved Senate or Academic Board lists submitted by their respective institutions.
“Attention, Prospective Corps Members (PCMs), I am happy to inform you that the NYSC portal will be opened for online registration from 12th to 18th March, 2026,” the statement read.
It also clarified that only graduates with officially approved academic results and properly uploaded institutional records would be eligible to take part in the process.
According to the notice, those eligible include “PCMs who have Senate/Academic Board approved results and whose details have been uploaded on the NYSC portal by their respective institutions.”
The scheme advised prospective corps members to consult the NYSC website and its verified social media pages for detailed instructions on how to complete the registration successfully.
Applicants were further urged to carefully verify their personal information before beginning the process to avoid complications during mobilisation.
The NYSC emphasised that graduates must ensure that the names on their certificates or statements of results correspond exactly with those appearing on official records.
Additionally, candidates were instructed to confirm their details through the Senate list verification portal before proceeding with registration.
The agency also stressed the importance of identity verification with the National Identity Management Commission, noting that the names on a graduate’s NIMC record must match those appearing on the Senate list and the NYSC portal.
The announcement comes as the Federal Government intensifies reforms within Nigeria’s education sector to safeguard the credibility of academic records.
Recently, the Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, announced tougher measures aimed at tackling certificate fraud, warning that graduates without valid documentation would not be mobilised for national service.
Alausa disclosed this during a national capacity-building programme organised to support the implementation of the Nigeria Education Repository and Data Bank, an initiative designed to improve academic data management and institutional compliance across the country.
