No fewer than 10,000 teachers across Nigeria have registered for the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) Batch A Professional Qualifying Examination scheduled to hold from May 14 to 16, 2026.
The Registrar and Chief Executive of TRCN, Dr Ronke Soyombo, disclosed this on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, noting that the registrations were completed through the council’s digital portal.
She said the figure reflects growing acceptance of the platform and its capacity to handle nationwide registration and licensing processes.
The TRCN digital portal, launched in September 2025 with the support of the Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Alausa, is aimed at modernising teacher registration, licensing, and certification in Nigeria.
Soyombo acknowledged that users initially experienced some challenges with the platform, attributing the issues to high traffic, system upgrades, and the transition from manual to digital processes.
“The initial challenges experienced were largely due to high user traffic and increased demand following the nationwide rollout, ongoing system upgrades to enhance performance and security, and user adaptation to digital processes,” she explained.
She, however, assured that the platform is now operating efficiently, adding that the high number of successful registrations demonstrates its reliability.
“The TRCN digital registration portal is running smoothly and continues to serve teachers nationwide without interruption. Over 10,000 teachers have successfully registered for the May 14–16, 2026 examination,” she said.
Soyombo emphasised that the registration milestone confirms the effectiveness of the system and dismissed earlier concerns about its performance as part of a normal adjustment phase.
She also reiterated that the portal remains the only approved channel for teacher registration, licensing, and certification in Nigeria, warning against fraudulent alternatives.
According to her, the council has never authorised any bank to sell registration forms, stressing that all processes are conducted exclusively through the official TRCN portal to ensure transparency.
She commended teachers for their patience and cooperation, assuring that efforts are ongoing to further improve the platform.
