The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited the immediate past Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami for questioning.

Malami was summoned via a letter dated November 24, which revealed that Friday, November 28, had been fixed for an interview with the anti-graft agency.

Signed by Sunday Atiba Ofen-Imu, on behalf of the EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, the letter reads in part, “The Commission is investigating a case in which the need to obtain certain information from you becomes imperative.

“In view of the above, you are requested to kindly attend an interview with the undersigned through the Head, Special Duty Committee-3.

“This request is made pursuant to Section 38(1) and (2) of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Establishment) Act, 2024.

“Your cooperation in this regard is highly solicited, please.”

However, taking to his official Facebook page, Abubakar Malami confirmed the invitation, adding that he was ready to honour it.

The former AGF described himself as a law-abiding citizen committed to accountability and transparency in public service.

“This is to confirm that I have been invited by the EFCC. As a law-abiding and patriotic citizen, I hereby reaffirm my commitment to honour the invitation.

“I understand the spirit of accountability and transparency in public service — principles that I both advocate and champion,” Malami said.
