The presidential election petition tribunal led by justice Haruna Simon Tsamani has admitted the documents tendered by the People’s Democratic Party in evidence.

Through their Counsel Chris Uche, SAN, the petitioners tendered fourteen batches of certified true copies of the voter’s register of the federal capital territory of the February 25, 2023 presidential election.

Sitting in Abuja, a report by the NTA said that the documents were provided by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, upon the issuance of subpoena on its chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, on the 26th of May, 2023.

According to it, Truth Live News learned that the Counsel to INEC Abubakar Mahmud, SAN, and that of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Wole Olanipekun, SAN and APC, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN objected to the admissibility of the documents tendered.

However, the petitioner’s intention to tender certified true copies of documents without proper scheduling was said to be the cause of the objection.

The Counsel to INEC Abubakar Mahmud, SAN was reported to have informed the court that the petitioners were yet to pay for fees for the documents produced by the electoral umpire.

The court adjourned the matter to Wednesday 21st June, 2023 for continuation of hearing.
