Alleged Defamation: TikToker Freed as Mercy Johnson Withdraws Case After Social Media Pressure

Popular Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson has withdrawn the defamation charges filed against TikToker Eedie Bliss, leading to the content creator’s release from detention.

Eedie Bliss was freed on Saturday, January 17, 2026, after the actress decided to drop the case amid growing criticism and outrage across social media platforms.

The decision followed intense pressure from online users, including outspoken social media commentator VeryDarkMan, who publicly called out Mercy Johnson and accused her of using her influence to oppress a private individual.

He also argued that defamation is a civil matter and should not warrant police detention.

VeryDarkMan, who joined other Nigerians demanding the TikToker’s release, reportedly gave the actress an ultimatum before the charges were withdrawn.

Shortly after, he confirmed the development via his Instagram page.

“@MercyJohnsonOkojie, thank you very much, my GREATEST OF ALL TIME, for dropping the case.

“Moving on, I am buying all defamation cases against Mercy Johnson and her family. The bullying is too much.

“You all should leave her family alone,” he wrote.

TRUTH LIVE NEWS reports that Eedie Bliss had been arrested days earlier over a TikTok video she posted in December 2025 concerning Mercy Johnson and her husband, Prince Henry Okojie.

In the controversial video, the TikToker alleged that Prince Okojie had recently purchased a house for a woman described as his pregnant mistress.

Eedie Bliss quoted a blogger, Cutie Juls, as her source, and also claimed that the actress allegedly collaborated with the woman’s house help to induce a miscarriage.

The allegations sparked widespread debate online, eventually leading to the public intervention that secured the TikToker’s release.
