Veteran Nollywood actor, Chief Pete Edochie, has refuted the rumours of his death.
The Nollywood super icon said he is alive, hale and hearty.
Edochie said this following the news making the rounds on the various social media platforms that he is dead.
According to the make believe legend “I will never leave this world before my time.
“Those who wish me dead simply do not understand what it means to live for humanity. I wish them well.”
The statement refuting his death which was widely shared online, was met with an outpouring of relief and goodwill from admirers who praised the actor’s grace in addressing the situation.
However, this is not the first time false reports of Edochie’s death have surfaced.
Similar rumours have emerged in the past, only to be refuted, raising renewed concerns about the spread of misinformation on social media and its emotional impact on public figures and their families.
Truth Live News Media reports that Chief Pete Edochie rose to stardom in the 1980s with his portrayal of Okonkwo, father to Ikemefuna in a Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s novel, “Things Fall Apart”
