Osimhen Undergoes Scan for Arm Injury

Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen arrived in Istanbul on Sunday night to undergo a scheduled scan on the arm injury he sustained during last Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool at Anfield.

The Nigerian forward is expected to undergo further medical examinations on Monday to determine whether surgery will be required.

According to Turkish outlet Forza Cimbom, Osimhen’s arrival in Istanbul will be followed by a detailed assessment, after which a decision on possible surgery will depend on the condition of the fracture.

Galatasaray are increasingly concerned about the fitness of their star striker, who could be sidelined for between three to five months after being forced off during the encounter against Liverpool.

Osimhen sustained the injury following a challenge from Ibrahima Konaté in the first half, with the club later confirming that he fractured his arm.

In a statement after the match, Galatasaray said the 27-year-old completed the first half despite the knock but was withdrawn at halftime after medical checks indicated a risk of a fracture.

“Further examinations at the hospital confirmed a fracture in his right forearm, and it has been placed in a cast. A decision regarding surgery will be made in the coming days following additional evaluations,” the club stated.

Osimhen had earlier returned to Nigeria, where he was seen in public with his arm in a cast, before traveling back to Turkey for further assessment.

The striker, who has been in fine form this season, has scored 19 goals and provided seven assists in 29 appearances across all competitions, helping Galatasaray maintain a four-point lead in the Turkish Super Lig title race.

He also recorded seven goals and three assists in 10 Champions League matches prior to the club’s exit.

Turkish journalist Ali Naci Küçük reports that the situation remains under close observation, with a possibility of avoiding surgery if the fracture heals properly with the cast.

Osimhen has been left out of Nigeria’s 23-man squad for this month’s international friendlies against Jordan and Iran in Turkey as he focuses on recovery.
