After years of battling infertility, Nollywood actress Toyosi Adesanya has welcomed her first child through surrogacy.
The news was shared by her colleague and close friend, Biola Adebayo, who announced the birth on social media and revealed she has been named the child’s godmother.
Adesanya had previously opened up about her difficult journey to motherhood. In 2024, she disclosed that she underwent a laparoscopy and two unsuccessful IVF attempts in 2009 and 2011, spending between ₦900,000 and ₦1 million at the time. She noted that she had to sell personal belongings to afford the procedures.
The actress also shared that she experienced multiple pregnancy losses due to medical complications.
Recounting her early struggles, she revealed that she got married in 2007 and was pregnant during her wedding, but lost the pregnancy shortly after. She later conceived again through herbal treatment but suffered another loss.
Now, after years of setbacks, Adesanya has finally achieved her dream of motherhood.
With a career spanning over three decades, she has featured in several Yoruba films including Alagogo Ide, Oru, Iwo, and Adeda, earning recognition for her contributions to the Nigerian film industry.
