Enugu Women Protest as Gunmen Abduct Five, Shoot One in Ezimo

Residents of a community in Enugu State have taken to the streets after five people were reportedly kidnapped and another shot during an attack on Saturday.

Women from Ezimo community, located in Udenu Local Government Area, marched through major roads to express their frustration and fear over rising insecurity in the area.

One person who was shot during the attack is currently receiving treatment in hospital.

The incident was highlighted by a social media influencer, Chijinkem Ugwuanyi, who posted updates on Facebook. He said residents who witnessed the attack confirmed that cases of kidnapping and shootings had increased in recent weeks, leaving the community in a constant state of fear.

In a video shared on his page, women from the community called on the Enugu State Government and security agencies to intervene urgently. They warned that villagers could no longer live safely amid repeated attacks and demanded immediate action to restore peace.

The state authorities have not yet issued a public statement on the incident.
