Ex-Edo Chief Whip Owie Congratulates Edo Assembly Members As 8th Session Begins

Former Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Rowland Owie, has congratulated members of the 8th Session of the Edo State House of Assembly on their successful inauguration.

 

He lauded the members’ commitment to public service and upholding the democratic ideals.

 

Senator Owie applauded the unanimous election of Rt. Honourable Blessing Agbebaku as the Speaker and Rt. Honourable Maria Edeko as the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, adding that “this decision reflects the trust and confidence bestowed upon them by their peers”.

 

The former Senator said he was “confident that their leadership will steer the House of Assembly towards progress, prosperity and values-based law making for the common good”.

 

In his message to the newly elected Speaker and Deputy Speaker, Senator Owie stressed “the importance of fostering a harmonious working relationship with the Executive, led by His Excellency, Governor Godwin Obaseki.

 

“It is crucial for both branches of government to collaborate effectively, ensuring that the needs and aspirations of the Edo people are met”.

 

He further charged the members of the House of Assembly to uphold the principles of separation of powers, as enshrined in the Nigeria Constitution and encouraged them to ‘serve the people of Edo State with utmost dedication, integrity, and accountability”.

 

Truth Live News reports that the Distinguished Senator was a member of the House of Representatives between 1979-1983.
