Senator Ali Ndume, representing the Borno South constituency, has been accused of brutally assaulting Imam Ibrahim Lawal Osama, a respected cleric leading prayers at the Apo Legislative Quarters Zone (B) Mosque in Abuja.
The details of the alleged assault were revealed exclusively to Truth Live News during a telephone conversation with the traumatized cleric.
According to the cleric, the incident started on Friday, during a special prayer session dedicated to the Nation at the Apo Mosque, where many Hafiz recite the Holy Qur’an to seek peace and stability for the country.
He stated that Senator Ndume entered the mosque in the company of gangs, and demanded that the prayer be stopped immediately, and the Mosque be locked up.
The senator appeared visibly agitated and began disrupting the serene atmosphere by shouting and creating a commotion.
Imam Ibrahim, who was leading the prayers, requested Senator Ndume to maintain decorum and respect the sanctity of the place of worship.
Instead of heeding the cleric’s plea, the senator allegedly flew into a rage and ordered his gang to physically attack him in front of the horrified worshippers.
The cleric further explained that Senator Ndume, accompanied by his gangs, subjected him to severe physical abuse, including punches, kicks, and verbal threats. The assault only ceased when other worshippers intervened and managed to restrain the senator and his gangs.
The cleric sustained severe injuries and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention. He is currently in stable condition but traumatized by the harrowing incident.
The cleric immediately reported the case at the nearest police station, and Senator Ndume had refused to honour the police invitation for the past forty-Eight hours.
At the time of filing this report, all efforts by Truth Live News to reach out to Senator Ndume for his response to the allegations proved abortive, as his personal assistant declined to comment on the incident.
Truth Live News will continue to follow this developing story and provide updates as more information becomes available.
