Renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana, SAN, has issued a sharp denial of any connection to the popular crossdresser Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, following the release of an audio clip by activist Very Dark Man (VDM).

The audio allegedly contains claims by Bobrisky that Falana would assist in securing a presidential pardon for him during his time in Kirikiri prison for the sum of 10 million naira, facilitated through his son, musician Falz.

Truth Live News gathered that, In the audio, Bobrisky reportedly states that Falz approached him, suggesting that his father, Falana, could help clear his criminal record. Falana has unequivocally denied any such involvement.

During a televised interview on Channels TV’s ‘Politics Today’ on October 3, Falana declared, “I have never met Bobrisky. I do not know him from Adam.”

Falana went on to describe an earlier interaction in May, when Bobrisky allegedly approached his son, Falz, asking for financial aid for a special section of the prison.

Falz, according to Falana, refused the request and directed Bobrisky to use official channels, marking the end of any communication.

Falana expressed his indignation at the spread of defamatory claims, asserting that the release of the tape had tarnished his reputation.

In response, Falana and Falz, through their legal team, demanded that VDM issue an immediate retraction and a public apology across all platforms within 24 hours.

VDM, however, denied any defamation, insisting he only sought an investigation into Bobrisky’s claims.

Nevertheless, Falana has announced his intention to pursue civil litigation, stating, “We are not filing criminal charges. Our focus is on civil proceedings to restore our integrity—both mine and my son’s.”

Falana warned of the growing dangers of unchecked defamation on social media and emphasized the need for accountability, noting, “We intend to make an example out of this case.”

The Falanas now await a retraction and public apology, failing which they will proceed with legal action to protect their family’s reputation.
