The United Kingdom is made up of four countries — England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland — and their journeys to the 2026 FIFA World Cup have been nothing short of remarkable.
England qualified in emphatic fashion, finishing with a perfect record:
8 games, 8 wins, and not a single goal conceded. A flawless and commanding performance from start to finish.
Scotland secured their qualification in the most dramatic manner possible. Last night’s game was a rollercoaster — they were in, out, back in, out again, and then in the 93rd minute, they snatched qualification once more. A stunning assurance goal deep into added time, capped by McLean’s incredible strike from the halfway line, sealed the moment.
Wales fought hard and finished 2nd in their qualifying group, which earns them a place in the UEFA play-offs. Their campaign is still alive.
Northern Ireland, despite not finishing in the top two, have secured a play-off spot via the Nations League route and remain contenders for the World Cup ticket.
Overall, it’s an inspiring showing from the UK nations.
Proud of all four teams.
And for England …
This one should be coming home!
