Former AIG Mbu Wins PSC In Court, Gets N40m Damages Over Unlawful Dismissal

Hon. Justice O. A. Obaseki-Osaghae of the National Industrial Court, Abuja has reportedly declared that the sack of former AIG Mbu Joseph Mbu was illegal and awarded general damages of N40 million against the Police Service Commission.

A report by the Nigerian Voice said that Justice Obaseki-Osaghae delivered the judgment in Suit No NICN/ABJ/198/2017 Between AIG Mbu Joseph Mbu versus Police Service Commission, seeking relief for unlawful dismissal from service.

The judge was reportedly ordered that the sum of N750,000 be paid to the claimant as cost of the suit, saying that failure of the defendant to comply with the orders of the court within 30 days will attract a 10 percent interest per annum.

Justice Obaseki-Osaghae went on to say that the Police Service Commission will pay him all his outstanding salaries and allowances between the time of the illegal dismissal of him from July 8, 2016 to 10th of April 2018, when he attained his statutory retirement by virtue of age.

Former AIG Mbu Joseph Mbu was born on 10th of April 1958 to Chief Simeon N Mbu and Ara Agnes Mbu of Abia in Etung Local Government Area of Cross River Central Senatorial District South South Nigeria.
