UYO: Akwa Ibom State former Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) Baba Mohammed Azare, has resumed duty as the newly appointed Commissioner of Police in the state.
CP Azare takes over from his predecessor, CP Joseph Eribo at the Uyo headquarters of the Akwa Ibom state police Command.
While Receiving the new CP who paid a courtesy visit to his office in Government House, Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, expressed satisfaction with the choice of CP Azare.
“I am ready to work with you,” he assured him of symbiotic working relationship throughout his time as CP.
Governor Eno said he has always done, even in Azare’s days as Deputy Commissioner (Operations) in the state.
The chance meetings between the duo on service to the people of Akwa Ibom State, provided them with adequate knowledge of the terrain and its security situation.

For the most part, the Governor revealed that his aim of establishing ‘Ibom Community Watch’ is to help to monitor government facilities in the villages.
“Currently, we are trying to ensure that there is at least one in every village so that they can help particularly to monitor government facilities in those villages,” he added.
Also, he decried how hoodlums have been vandalizing public facilities, especially transformers in the rural areas and thought it wise to raise the ICW to enhance community policing.
“We trust that they will continue to do the work by giving you adequate information because it costs the government a lot to replace vandalized transformers while also hindering rural development,” said Eno.
“So we look forward to that continuous and symbiotic relationship with the leadership of the Nigeria Police as we continue to serve the Akwa Ibom people.”
In social media post, Chief Press Secretary Ekerette Udoh, said the Governor Umo Bassey Eno, congratulated CP Azare on his promotion and posting to the state.
Meanwhile, CP Azare had appreciated the Governor for his support for security agencies in the state.
He said he is committed to collaborate with other security agencies to ensure that the people enjoy peace and tranquility in the state.
