The Edo State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has called for a collaboration with relevant stakeholders to reduce the rate of road crashes.
The FRSC State Sector Commander,
Paul Okpe, made the call during a road show as parts of the activities to sensitize road users on the need to be safety-conscious on the road.
Okpe said the sensitization is necessary due to the attitude of drivers in the state, noting that one has to be alive to celebrate.
“Before embarking on any journey during this period, check your vehicle to ascertain whether your brake, light, fire extinguisher, tyre, among others are in good condition.
“While on the road, you have to obey traffic rules by wearing seatbelt, avoid overloading and speeding, dangerous driving and route violation, among others. You can celebrate with your family while alive.”
Okpe advised motorists to ignore passengers who often instigate them to embarking on over speed on the excuse of being in haste, noting that such passengers also contribute to road crashes and should be ignored.
He said the corps will deplored men and officer across the state with a view to ensure a hitch free celebration.
Okpe appealed to motorists to drive at minimal speed and respect other road users as it is those that are alive that will celebrate the season.
