AKWA IBOM, UYO – Helen Eno Obareki, Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, has charged African youths to assume ethical leadership roles, as Governor Umo Bassey Eno ordered reforms in health deployment and youth empowerment initiatives.
Obareki, daughter of the Akwa Ibom State Governor, continues the legacy of her late mother, Pastor Patience Umo Eno, coordinating programmes such as the Golden Initiative For All, GIFA, after her passing in 2024.
According to posts on her official social media handles sighted by Truthlivenews correspondent in the state, Obareki addressed delegates of the 2025 National Conference of the African High School Model United Nations in Uyo.

She described the participants as “future professionals, strategists, and co-authors of Africa’s unfolding story,” while commending organisers for the conference theme on youth participation in African leadership decision-making.
Obareki noted that with over 60 percent of Nigeria’s and Africa’s population classified as youths, ethical inclusion in governance conversations had become urgent rather than aspirational.
She said African youths are energetic, digitally savvy, and positioned to offer innovative and technology-driven solutions to contemporary governance and development challenges confronting the continent.
In her keynote address, she urged delegates to become “Digital Detectives,” young leaders who understand technology deeply and identify societal gaps requiring urgent, principled intervention.
Obareki further challenged the youths to disrupt complacency, urging them to reject injustice, resist laziness, and confront the comfort of the status quo with moral clarity and courage.
She reminded participants that ethical leadership demands solutions over complaints, stressing that difficulties should inspire responsible action rather than persistent grievance.
Meanwhile, Governor Umo Bassey Eno announced decisive measures to strengthen healthcare delivery and reinforce social responsibility during activities at the state’s Christmas Village in Uyo.
In a statement shared on his verified social media platforms and sighted by Truthlivenews, the governor directed the immediate recall of all medical doctors posted to non-medical duties across ministries.
He said the directive aligns with the ethical obligation to deploy scarce professional skills where they are most needed, as government intensifies efforts to revamp the state’s health sector.
“Our doctors must be where their skills are most needed, serving our people and strengthening healthcare delivery,” Eno stated, linking policy decisions to public welfare considerations.
The governor also announced the appointment of Miss Abigail Okon, a young graduate, into the state civil service after learning about her difficult life experiences.

Eno said the decision reflects government’s moral responsibility to create opportunity and demonstrate that circumstances of birth should not define an individual’s destiny.
He described the intervention as a message of hope to young people, stressing that compassion, faith, and access to opportunity can transform lives regardless of background.
The governor further commended ministries, departments, and agencies for showcasing services at the Government Pavilion, describing it as evidence of progress under the ARISE Agenda.
Observers note that the parallel actions of Obareki and Governor Eno underscore a governance approach that blends ethical leadership, youth inclusion, and institutional responsibility.
Analysts say the emphasis on moral clarity, proper deployment of skills, and youth empowerment reflects situational ethics in public administration and social development.
Both leaders’ statements, as shared on their official platforms, highlight a commitment to aligning authority with service, reinforcing accountability, and inspiring confidence in public institutions.
