Benin City, Edo State
Governor Yusuf, in a statement released by the Director General of Media and Publicity, Bature Tofa, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for resisting the alleged pressure and allowing the Supreme Court to independently restore Yusuf’s victory. The Supreme Court overturned the earlier decisions of the election tribunal and Court of Appeal, reinstating Yusuf’s win and alleviating tensions in Kano.
Yusuf, acknowledging Tinubu and Shettima’s unwavering stance against interference, extended an olive branch to his rival Nasiru Gawuna, urging unity in developing Kano post-election. Despite efforts to obtain a reaction from Ganduje, his Chief Press Secretary remained unresponsive.
Truth Live News gathered that the APC’s Publicity Secretary in Kano, Ahmed Aruwa, refrained from commenting until the party meets with the national chairman. Meanwhile, the Deputy National Organising Secretary of the APC, Nze Chidi, praised the Supreme Court’s judgments in seven states, stating they have contributed to diffusing tension nationwide.
The return of Governor Abba Yusuf to Kano was marked by a jubilant crowd of supporters and New Nigeria People’s Party members. The statement quoted Yusuf calling for unity and cooperation for the development of Kano.
