Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has nominated three new commissioners whose names have been forwarded to the State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
According to a statement on Tuesday by Mohammed Onogwu, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, the names of the three commissioner-designate include, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, Former Commissioner for Information and Communications from Mopa Muro LGA, Dr Zakeri Usman (Dekina LGA) and Engineer Mohammed Ihiezue Abdulmutalab (Okene LGA).
Two of the three commissioners resigned from the cabinet to contest the party primary election in May, in line with section 84(12) of the amended Electoral Act, 2022.
Fanwo had earlier resigned his appointment to contest the Yagba West House of Representatives ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) but lost at the primary poll.
Truthlive.net learnt that Dr Usman is nominated to replace the former Commissioner for Health, Dr. Saka Haruna Audu who was removed by the Governor from office in April 2022, over allegations of misappropriation of funds. While, Abdulmutallab was nominated to replace Engr. Abubakar Ohere who resigned to pursue his senatorial ambition.
