Governors Forum Visits Plateau, Calls for Peace Amid Recent Violence

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum Chairman, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, who is also the Governor of Kwara State, led a delegation to commiserate with the government and people of Plateau State over recent violence that claimed several lives.

Governor Abdulrazaq commended the security agencies for preventing further escalations while expressing condolences with the families of the victims.

He emphasized the need for leaders and influencers to unite the people and restore sustainable peace in Plateau State.

Abdulrazaq highlighted Plateau’s potential in agriculture and tourism, which could be negatively affected by violence.

He urged leaders to resolve differences through dialogue, fair negotiations, mutual respect, and perspective-taking.

The NGF chairman commended Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s leadership and expressed solidarity with the government and people of Plateau State.

In response, Governor Mutfwang appreciated the NGF delegation’s concern and assured that his administration won’t relent in ensuring lasting peace despite the recent attacks.

Mutfwang called on the Federal Government to secure all 36 states, stressing that the Plateau incident could happen anywhere in Nigeria.

The visit comes as other prominent figures, including Peter Obi, former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, have also paid condolence visits to victims and families impacted by the violence, with Obi donating ₦7.5 million to displaced victims.
