Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has said no single Kobo was paid for the release of the 24 kidnapped schoolgirls of Comprehensive Secondary School in the state.

He said that the schoolgirls regained their freedom through a non-kinetic approach adopted by the Federal Government.

Speaking on their release, Governor Idris said neither the federal nor state government paid any ransom.

“No ransom was paid. The Kebbi State Government did not pay a kobo, and neither did the Federal Government. The rescue was achieved solely through the efforts of the security agencies,” Idris said.

The governor of the state added that the schoolgirls will be returned to their parents on Wednesday.

He said that they however expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his concern and for directing security agencies to ensure the rescue of the girls.
