The Young Edo Professionals (YEP), a political group, has declared that Philip Shaibu, the impeached deputy governor of Edo state, is incapable of winning any election in the state, labeling him as merely a noisemaker.
In April, the Edo State House of Assembly impeached Shaibu for “misconduct, perjury, and disclosure of government secrets.”
Earlier this month, a federal high court in Abuja ordered Shaibu’s reinstatement, but the state government filed a notice of appeal and stay of execution.
Following this, Shaibu left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement on Tuesday, YEP leader Osasuyi Anselm said Shaibu lacks relevance in Edo politics.
He claimed that the impeached deputy governor has never won an election on his own and relies on others for political relevance.
“Politically, Shuaibu can’t win any election but hides behind others to gain political relevance. His cross-carpeting was a riddance to political lilliputian,” the statement reads.
“Shuaibu is simply a noise maker who moves from one political party to another because of pecuniary interest, knowing too well that on his own he can never win any election.”
