Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have kidnapped Mrs. Elizabeth Uruakpa, 66.
She was kidnapped on her way from the evening church service when the masked gunmen who had laid ambush swooped on her at the entrance of her house behind the new Ilisan market, Ikenne Local Government Area of the state.
Mrs. Uruakpa a widow, is said to be an Assistant Chief Nursing Officer with Babcock University Teaching Hospital, Ilisan Remo.
The incident reportedly threw the neighbourhood into panic as many residents and shop owners quickly shut their doors.
A resident of the area who spoke on the condition of anonymity said “the woman was coming back from the church in the evening around 7p.m when the gunmen abducted her. I know her very well, she’s a senior nursing staff with Babcock University Teaching Hospital and she is a member of Winners’ Chapel.
“They dragged her down from her vehicle and put her in their red Toyota car and sped away. It was really like a thunder lightning and such thing has never happened before in our neighbourhood, it is so strange and scary”.
The Director of Communication and Marketing of the university, Dr Joshua Suleiman, confirmed the development.
Dr Suleiman said, “I heard about it last night; it is in one of the university’s platforms but I don’t have comprehensive report. Someone is already working on getting more information about this, as soon as it is ready I will get across to you. Thanks for reaching out”.
The spokesperson of the Ogun State Police command, SP Omolola Odutola also confirmed the incident on her X handle
Odutola wrote that “On September.5. a distress call was received from Ilishan near new market at about 1710hrs that one Elizabeth Uruakpa was abducted by young armed men who blocked her Honda CRV with their unregistered Red Toyota Camry , and zoomed off with her. Updates later”.
