In a gathering at his campaign office in Benin City, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the upcoming September election in Edo State, delivered a heartfelt promise to the multitude of groups rallying behind his bid for governorship.

Truth Live News gathered that he expressed his gratitude for their unwavering support and emphasized his determination not to let them down if entrusted with the state’s leadership.

Acknowledging the dedication and sacrifices made by the supporters, Ighodalo stressed the enormity of the task ahead and urged against complacency.

“I am actually overwhelmed and I want to thank you sincerely for coming. Some of you have put in so much effort and also sacrificed time to be here. That suggests to me that you are more than ready to support us to the very end,” he remarked.

With a firm commitment, he declared, “I will not disappoint you; I cannot afford to fail you. I promise I will make all of you proud.” He outlined his vision for Edo State, vowing to elevate it to a model of prosperity and good governance for other sub-national entities to emulate. “My mantra is that we must move Edo State forward to the level of prosperity for all. A level of being the best sub national government,” he asserted.

Highlighting the importance of unity and collective effort, Ighodalo emphasized the need for collaboration to achieve their shared goal. “It is not enough to say we want the government of the people for the people and by the people, or chorus fairness, equity and justice. We must all come together and work as one to achieve our goal,” he urged.

The assembled groups, led by their coordinators and leaders, expressed their unwavering support for Ighodalo’s candidacy, citing their conviction that he is the most qualified candidate for the position. Groups such as the Edo Market Women Association, Edo Queens Political Support Group, Asue-Ogie Support Movement (AOSM), Asue Ighodalo Youth Movement, Coalition of Ethnic Nationalities of Nigeria (COAOEN), Edo Women for Good Governance, and National Association of Private Primary Schools, among others, pledged their total backing for his aspiration.

The declaration of support from such diverse groups is a top of the iceberg that shows the broad-based appeal and goodwill of Ighodalo’s candidacy and the confidence placed in his ability to lead Edo State towards a prosperous future.
