Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in the recent Edo State election, has expressed profound grief over the tragic fuel tanker explosion that occurred in Jigawa State, resulting in the loss of approximately 140 lives.
In a heartfelt statement released and personally signed by Dr. Ighodalo, the renowned investment lawyer conveyed his deepest sympathies to the bereaved families, the government, and the people of Jigawa State, noting that the scale of the tragedy has cast a dark shadow over the entire nation.
“I am profoundly heartbroken by the grievous tanker explosion that occurred in Jigawa State, resulting in the tragic loss of so many innocent lives. This devastating incident, which has claimed the lives of approximately 140 individuals, leaves a deep void in the hearts of the bereaved families and the entire nation,” Ighodalo stated in the statement sent to Truth Live News.
He further emphasized on the emotional toll the incident has taken, describing it as both distressing and deeply regrettable, particularly as it befell individuals struggling in their daily efforts to survive. Dr. Ighodalo called upon both the state and federal governments to act swiftly by providing relief materials to the affected community and ensuring the injured one’s receive the necessary medical attention to prevent further casualties.
“I urge the state and federal governments to swiftly mobilize comprehensive relief efforts to alleviate the suffering of the affected community. In particular, it is imperative that those injured in the explosion receive immediate and adequate medical care to ensure that no further lives are lost,” he urged.
Dr. Ighodalo also expressed solidarity with the entire nation, mourning alongside the families and calling for preventive measures to avoid such catastrophes in the future. He prayed for strength for the families and eternal peace for the departed souls.
“May the Almighty grant strength and comfort to the bereaved families, and may the souls of the departed find eternal peace,” his statement concluded.
