The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has paid N25 million in compensation to an injured staff member of the National Assembly.
The staff member, who is an active participant in the insurance scheme, received the payment due to injuries sustained while on duty.
The Managing Director/Chief Executive of NSITF, Mr. Oluwaseun Mayomi Faleye, presented the N25 million cheque to the Clerk to the National Assembly, Barrister Kamoru Ogunlana, on behalf of the injured staff member.
Faleye noted the importance of the Social Insurance Scheme in mitigating occupational hazards for workers in both the public and private sectors.
He also reiterated NSITF’s commitment to paying compensation to deserving beneficiaries, stressing the need for compliance with insurance payments.
Ogunlana commended NSITF for implementing the scheme, and urged the agency to ensure timely payment of entitlements to eligible beneficiaries.
He also pledged the National Assembly’s support in strengthening NSITF’s institutional capacity to deliver on its core mandate.
