Suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists have attacked a nomadic settlement in Wuturo, Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State, killing one herder and rustling a large number of livestock.
Truth Live News gathered that the incident occurred on Tuesday night, March 10, 2026, when armed men stormed the settlement on motorcycles.
The Public Relations Officer of the Borno State Police Command, ASP Nahum Daso, confirmed the attack in a statement on Thursday, March 12, 2026, noting that one person was also injured during the assault.
According to Daso, the attackers arrived at about 10:30 p.m., riding five motorcycles before launching the attack on the herders.
“The Borno State Police Command condemns the recent attack on a nomadic settlement at Wuturo, Konduga Local Government Area, allegedly carried out by suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists,” the statement said.
Daso explained that the attack was first reported by the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association in Konduga to the Konduga Police Division.
Preliminary investigations revealed that during the attack, a 40-year-old herder identified as Ahmadu Baida sustained fatal gunshot injuries, while another victim, Mohammadu Baida, 30, was shot in the left leg.
He added that the attackers rustled about 1,400 sheep belonging to the herdsmen during the raid.
Following the report, a joint security team comprising the police, military personnel, the Civilian Joint Task Force, and local hunters, led by the Divisional Police Officer of Konduga, was immediately mobilised to the scene.
The victims were evacuated to a hospital where Ahmadu Baida was confirmed dead on arrival by a medical doctor, while the injured victim is currently receiving treatment and responding positively.
Daso said that on the directive of the Commissioner of Police in Borno State, Naziru Abdulmajid, the command had activated coordinated operational strategies with other security agencies and community stakeholders to track down the perpetrators, prevent further attacks, and recover the rustled livestock.
He added that tactical and intelligence assets had been deployed across the affected area and neighbouring communities to strengthen security presence.
The police command also commiserated with the family of the deceased and assured residents of its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
Residents were urged to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
The attack comes days after terrorists reportedly launched a coordinated assault on an army base in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State, engaging troops in a prolonged gun battle that lasted several hours and resulted in casualties, including a commanding officer.
