A Nigerian traveller has raised concerns over the plight of Nigerians reportedly stranded in Qatar, claiming that many have remained stuck for days without assistance from Nigerian authorities.
The traveller, identified on social media as Onyeka (@yeeeeka), said she and other Nigerians have been stranded for nine days while transiting through the Gulf country.
In posts shared on X on Monday March 9, 2026, she expressed frustration over what she described as the lack of response from the Nigerian diplomatic mission.
According to her, citizens of other countries who were also in transit had already been evacuated or assisted by their governments, leaving Nigerians as the majority of those still waiting for help. She added that several attempts had been made to contact the Nigerian embassy and consulate but no positive response had been received.
The traveller further lamented the situation, saying Nigerians were “literally the only ones left” at the hotel where stranded passengers are reportedly staying. The claim has since sparked reactions on social media, with many users calling on the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Nigerian diplomatic officials in Doha to urgently intervene and provide assistance to affected citizens.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official response from Nigerian authorities regarding the situation.
