Trump Orders ICE Deployment to Airports for Mass Arrests of Illegal Migrants

Donald Trump has announced that immigration enforcement agents will be deployed across major United States airports, with instructions to begin the immediate arrest of undocumented migrants.

In a series of social media posts, Trump directed the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to prepare for action starting Monday, describing the agents as “brilliant and patriotic” and promising a level of airport security “like no one has ever seen before.”

The directive appears to come amid ongoing tensions surrounding airport security operations. Reports indicate that staffing issues among Transportation Security Administration personnel have led to disruptions, including walkouts and extended queues at security checkpoints.

Trump also criticized political opponents, stating that if Democrats fail to support what he described as “proper security measures,” ICE would step in to take over enforcement duties more aggressively.

The move follows earlier controversies involving ICE operations, including deployments in cities like Minneapolis that sparked protests and raised concerns over enforcement tactics. Critics have continued to push for stricter oversight of ICE agents, including requirements for identification and limits on certain operational practices.

Additionally, Trump’s remarks included controversial claims linking immigration issues to specific communities and political figures, further intensifying the already polarised debate around immigration policy in the United States.

The planned deployment is expected to trigger legal, political, and public scrutiny, particularly regarding the scope of ICE authority within airport environments and the broader implications for civil liberties and immigration enforcement.
