The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has called on Igbos and Biafrans to return to their homeland for the Christmas season, assuring that the Eastern Security Network (ESN) will ensure safety and a peaceful atmosphere during the festivities.

In a statement issued by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, IPOB reaffirmed its commitment to addressing insecurity in the South East while promoting peace and development. The group emphasized the historical peacefulness of Alaigbo and urged Igbos to work towards maintaining harmony, which it said is critical for economic growth and stability in the region.

IPOB accused the Nigerian government of worsening insecurity through militarization and alleged subjugation of the South East, calling for the removal of illegal security checkpoints that it claims intimidate and harass travelers. It highlighted the role of ESN operatives in safeguarding communities by preventing criminal activities and securing forests and bushes from being used as hideouts.

The group encouraged Igbos to bring investments back to the South East, emphasizing the need to create opportunities for the youth and strengthen the region’s economic potential. It reiterated its commitment to protecting lives, property, and investments, warning criminals to avoid the area during the festive season as ESN operatives are actively working to ensure security.

As the holiday season approaches, IPOB called on all stakeholders to prioritize peace and development, urging Biafrans to reconnect with their homeland and contribute to the region’s growth and stability.
