An Israeli soldier, Pvt. Ori Megidish, who was kidnapped during a surprise attack by Hamas on October 7, has been rescued during an overnight Israeli ground operation in the Gaza Strip.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed this in a tweet on their X official account on Monday, stating that a medical examination determined Megidish to be in good condition.

It tweet, “Pvt. Ori Megidish is now home with her family. PVT Megidish was abducted by Hamas on October 7. Tonight, she was released during ground operations.”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also announced the successful rescue, stating that “Last night, our forces liberated Pvt. Ori Megidish from Hamas captivity.”

Megidish is the fifth hostage to return to Israel out of more than 200 taken captive by Hamas during the October 7 attack.

Israel’s Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, emphasized that this operation demonstrates Israel’s ability to rescue hostages taken by Hamas and reaffirms their commitment to each hostage.
