Former President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic stampedes that occurred during palliative distributions in Ibadan, Abuja, and Anambra.

The incidents have resulted in significant loss of life and injuries, prompting calls for immediate action and support.

In his Christmas message issued on Monday in Abuja, Jonathan urged Nigerians to show compassion and solidarity with the victims and their families during this difficult time. He also called on authorities to implement measures to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

“As we navigate through this painful period, I encourage all Nigerians to show compassion and solidarity, especially during this festive season,” he said.

Jonathan emphasized the essence of Christmas as a time of love, unity, and hope, reminding citizens of the importance of caring for one another and fostering peace and harmony in communities.

The former president’s message comes amid growing concerns about safety and coordination during relief efforts, with many urging better planning to ensure such incidents are not repeated.
