All schoolchildren abducted from St. Mary’s Catholic School in the Papiri community of Niger State have now regained their freedom, following the release of the final batch of 130 pupils. This brings the total number of rescued students to 230, with none left in captivity.
The Office of the National Security Adviser confirmed the development to ARISE News Channel on Sunday.
The latest release ends days of anxiety for the families of the victims and represents a major breakthrough for the security agencies involved in the rescue operation.
The pupils were kidnapped after gunmen attacked the boarding school, an incident that sparked nationwide outrage and renewed concerns over the safety of educational institutions across the country.
Authorities attributed the successful rescue to sustained security pressure and coordinated efforts, as calls continue to grow for enhanced school security and decisive measures to prevent future attacks.
