Just In: Armed Men Kidnap Passengers Enroute Abuja In ABC, GIG Buses In Kogi

Passengers travelling in two buses from the eastern part of the country to Abuja have been kidnapped on the Inele-Eteke Ogugu new road in Kogi East Senatorial district in the state.

 

Truth Live News gathered that GIG and ABC transport luxury buses heading to Abuja were hijacked by kidnappers in Kogi state.

The GIG bus reportedly left Umuahia at 7:30 am on Saturday on its way to Abuja.

Reacting to the incident, the GIG company said they have contacted security services and are tracking them.

Meanwhile, the Kogi State Police Command has confirmed the incident. The Command Public Relations Officer, SP William Ayah, in a statement issued, confirmed the incident and stated that the DPO, Local Vigilantes, and Hunters had been in the bush in an effort to rescue the victims.

According to him, two buses were involved, but he cannot say how many passengers were kidnapped during the incident.

He further disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Bethrand Onuoha, has deployed an additional Tactical Squad consisting of a Quick Response Unit, Police Mobile Force, Counter-Terrorism Unit, as well as conventional Police personnel to the area to continue with the bush combing and ensure all victims are rescued unhurt.
