The new Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Cross River State Nigeria, Professor Yomere Gabriel Oritsemolebi has resumed office in Calabar.
Professor Oritsemolebi, officially took over office from his predecessor, Dr. Alalibo Johnson Sinikiem on November 10, who has been redeployed to Rivers state.
A release dated 15 November, 2022, and endorsed by the Head of Department Voters’ Education and Publicity INEC, Cross River State, Anthonia Nwobi, has it that before Oritsemolebi’s appointment he was a lecturer and astute administrator.
According to the release, the REC was among the 19 sworn-in RECs on November 3, 2022.
It reads, “a new Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) Prof, Yomere Gabriel Oritsemolebi has resumed duty in the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) Cross River State.
The REC Prof, Yomere Gabriel Oritsemolebi is among the 19 newly sworn-in RECs.”
It says, the ongoing display of Preliminary Register of Votes (PRVs) exercise will last for 15 days, 7 days in the 193 wards in the state, and 7 days at the 18 INEC Local Government Area offices from Saturday 19, to Friday 25, November, 2022.
Meanwhile, the new REC has started holding meetings with the critical stakeholders in the electoral process where he has this to say.
