Amidst escalating tensions, Governor Fubara of Rivers State faces impeachment as state parliament accuses him of wrongdoing.

Reports suggest Fubara cooperated with the assembly, appearing before them on Monday, October 30.

The impeachment move was marred by controversy as majority leader Edison Ehie was ousted due to consistent absences from Assembly sessions, backed by 24 out of the 33 State House of Assembly members. Meanwhile, Fubara’s supporters gathered outside the assembly complex, protesting the impending impeachment.

In a separate development, a fire broke out at the Assembly Complex on Sunday night, with speculations about a feud between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike. Fubara, in response, maintains his innocence, asserting he has committed no offenses.

Sources allege that Fubara’s alignment with Atiku and Atiku’s allies in the state, his alleged sponsorship of Atiku’s court case against Tinubu, and attempts to remove the Speaker of the State House of Assembly are central issues in the political drama unfolding in Rivers State this week.
