Tensions are running high in Kano State, Nigeria, after the All Progressives Congress (APC) issued a stern warning to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP)-led state government.
The controversy erupted when Deputy Governor Aminu Abdulsalam accused Professor Hafsat Abdullahi Ganduje, wife of former Governor and current APC National Chairman Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, of financial misconduct.
Abdulsalam alleged that Professor Hafsat interfered with pension funds during her husband’s tenure, taking a share of the funds before pensioners were paid.
The APC’s Kano Publicity Secretary, Ahmad S. Aruwa, condemned Abdulsalam’s statements as defamatory and unconstitutional, warning that they could escalate tensions and potentially lead to a state of emergency.
