The All Progressives Congress (APC), Joshua Ishaku has been declared the winner in the Bwari Area Council chairmanship election in the Federal Capital Territory.
The election, held on February 21, 2026, saw Ishaku secure a commanding lead with 18,466 votes, outpacing his rivals from other parties. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate garnered 4,254 votes, while the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) candidate received 3,515 votes, according to official results.
Prof. Mohammed Nurudeen, the Returning Officer for the polls, announced the outcome on Sunday, confirming Ishaku’s triumph across the council’s 10 wards: Igu, Shere, Dutse, Ushafa, Byazhin, Kuduru, Kubwa, Usuma, Bwari Central, and Kawu.
