Governor Francis Nwifuru has directed security agencies to launch a comprehensive investigation into a recent deadly attack on Oso Edda community in Edda Local Government Area, which resulted in loss of lives and widespread destruction of property.
In a statement issued on Friday by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr Monday Uzor, the governor condemned the incident in strong terms, describing it as “barbaric” and a “flagrant disregard for the sanctity of human life.”
“I received with rude shock the news of the recent attack on Oso Edda which claimed lives and resulted in the destruction of property. This act of callousness is a direct affront to our commitment to restoring peace in our communities, and we cannot tolerate it,” Governor Nwifuru stated.
He emphasized that safeguarding lives and property remains the top priority of his administration, vowing that no effort would be spared to uncover the truth and deliver justice.
“As a government, the security of the lives and property of our people is of utmost importance, and we will leave no stone unturned to ensure justice is served,” he added.
The governor revealed that his administration is collaborating closely with law enforcement agencies to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. He appealed to residents of the affected community to stay calm and refrain from any form of reprisal, while directing security operatives to swiftly deploy to the area to prevent further violence or retaliation.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost their loved ones and property in this unfortunate incident. Be rest assured that they will not be left alone,” Nwifuru assured.
He also urged communities across Ebonyi State to embrace peace, stressing that sustainable development cannot flourish amid violence and destruction.
