Ebonyi Govt Issues 3-Month Ultimatum to Contractors to Complete All Ongoing Projects or Face Sanctions

The Ebonyi State Government has issued a strict three-month deadline to ministries supervising ongoing projects across the state, mandating full completion within the period or risk sanctions.

The directive was announced by Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Mr. Ikeuwa Omebeh, following a comprehensive review of projects during the State Executive Council (EXCO) meeting chaired by Governor Francis Nwifuru.

Omebeh stated, “Ebonyi State Government has issued a three-month ultimatum to ministries supervising ongoing projects across the state, directing them to ensure completion within the stipulated period or face sanctions.”

He explained that the decision stemmed from a thorough assessment aimed at accelerating development and enhancing service delivery.

“The decision followed a comprehensive review of ongoing projects aimed at accelerating development and improving service delivery,” Omebeh added.

Key ministries directed to intensify efforts include Works, Infrastructure, Environment, Commerce and Industry, Water Resources, Housing, and Special Duties.

In related decisions from the EXCO meeting, the Council approved the appointment and inauguration of two members of the State Civil Service Commission, a Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, and a Secretary of the Rural Electrification Board.

Governor Nwifuru charged the appointees to “demonstrate dedication and commitment in the discharge of their duties.”

The Governor also instructed the Rural Electrification Board to prioritise electricity supply to rural communities “as part of efforts to curb rural-urban migration and stimulate grassroots economic activities.”

Additionally, the newly inaugurated Civil Service Commission was tasked with working alongside relevant stakeholders “to reposition the state civil service for improved productivity and efficient service delivery.”

The moves reflect the administration’s push for faster infrastructure delivery, rural development, and administrative efficiency in Ebonyi State.
