Under the leadership of Chief Lucky Agazuma, Edo State Migration Agency EDMA , an agency known for working to eradicate prostitution in Benin City arrested a group of persons who were believed to be commercial sex workers.
It was stated that these persons come from other states to tarnish the image of Benin city. The action of EDMA appears to be part of a larger effort by the Edo State Government and the police to enforce local laws against activities they consider illegal in the state.
Some questioned culprits showed remorse and begged for help, as they attributed their act of commercializing sex to poverty and inability to meet up with their basic needs.
One of the suspects, narrated that since her husband died, and after losing her only source of livelihood, she could no longer provide for herself, hence the reason the started working as a sex worker.
Chief Lucky Agazuma has however issued warnings to others involved in this same act assuring them that whoever is caught would face the full brunt of the law.
