Excellence Redefined as UNILAG Medical Student Bags 11 Distinctions, Graduates with 5.00 CGPA


A University of Lagos (UNILAG) medical student has earned widespread admiration after graduating from the institution’s College of Medicine with an outstanding academic record, including a perfect 5.00 cumulative grade point average (CGPA) and distinctions in all assessed courses.

The achievement was announced in a social media post by the graduate, identified as Donye, who shared his final results online with the caption, “God has done it again.” According to the post, the newly qualified medical doctor recorded distinctions in all three courses taken at the 500 level of the MBBS programme.

The distinctions were earned in Community Health and Primary Care, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Paediatrics, bringing his total to 11 distinctions out of 11 courses from 100 level through 500 level.
The results confirm that the graduate completed the MBBS programme at UNILAG with a perfect 5.00 CGPA, a feat considered rare in Nigeria’s highly competitive medical education system.
