The newly sworn-in Chairman of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Edo State chapter, Dr. Bishop Akhalamhen, has vowed the body’s readiness to deepen democracy in the state and Nigeria by extension.
He made the pledge in Benin after emerging winner of the election.
Dr. Akhalamhen said IPAC is the conscience of democracy in Nigeria due to its role in promoting peace before, during and after election.
“When things are right in IPAC, everything will be fine. So, now that I have taken over the mantle of this leadership, this is a new dawn for the IPAC in Edo State.
“We will add our voices to IPAC in Edo State to promote peaceful and credible elections in Edo State”, Akhalamhen said.
Akhalamhen maintained further that with their presence in the state, they are going to make their impact felt by uniting the various political parties just as he said that going forward, elections that would be conducted, will be peaceful as the state will now serves as a model to other states.
“IPAC will unite political parties and ensure that the people of Edo State understand the value and what IPAC stands for. Henceforth, you will see that election in Edo State will be the most peaceful election in Nigeria because the foundation of peaceful election in Nigeria is IPAC. That is why I tagged IPAC the conscience of democracy. It is a new dawn for Edo State. And for IPAC”, Akhalamhen added.
On the part of the Electoral Chairman, IPAC, Lucky Akomire, he advised the new chairman to foster unity and prevent internal conflict to ensure a strong IPAC presence in Edo State.
Akomire who commended the peaceful election of the newly elected executives of IPAC in the state, said he earlier expressed apprehension about conducting the election but was pleased with the successful outcome.
